Let’s focus on progress, partnership, and purpose.
This year feels like we’re starting fresh.
As I continue as president, I’m not just introducing leadership anymore. Together, we’re making it stronger. Last year, we tried new things and made it through. Now, we’re rebuilding and coming back even stronger.
My goal is to make sure we have accountability, teamwork, renewed involvement, professional growth, a clear understanding of AdFed’s mission, and a culture where everyone plays a part.
This idea of a fresh start really stayed with me, just like this new website. Pretty nice, right? (A huge thank you to Abel Sanchez, our Vice President I & AAA Chair) We’re rising together as a stronger chapter and renewing our commitment to serve.
As we renew, we’ll get a better understanding of AdFed’s mission and remind ourselves why we serve, especially here in the Shreveport-Bossier community. I also want to honor the legacy and viewpoints of those who led before us in this creative field.
As we recommit, we’ll improve our accountability, meet our members’ expectations, and work better as a team. I believe we can do this and get it right—or we’ll get left behind. See what I did there? Haha.
As we rise, we’ll grow as leaders, help our chapter thrive, and support each of you in your own growth. This is a transformation—not just for us as leaders or professionals, but for our whole organization.
At our executive board retreat, I shared some affirmations with the committee to use throughout the year. I want to share them with you, too, because affirmations are a great way to encourage yourself until they become real.
“I renew my purpose. I recommit to serving with courage and compassion. Together, we rise to create lasting impact.”
“I release what no longer serves me. I embrace the purpose I’ve been called to fulfill. Today, I renew, recommit, and rise.”
“We are renewed in purpose, recommitted to one another, and rising together to serve, create, and inspire.”
My goal here is to remind everyone to lead with purpose, not just follow a process. I don’t just want people to know what they’re doing—I want them to remember why they’re doing it. Never forget your why—it’s your purpose. Stay hopeful, accountable, and look ahead, instead of focusing on last year’s challenges. As Rihanna says, “never a failure, always a lesson.”
Lastly, may your inbox be quiet, your coffee be strong, your pets behave themselves while you’re working, and may no one ask you for a favor after 5 PM.
